*NOTE: If you know about programming, you can edit the script with a text editor in order to change the network set-up
Start playing with Conductr
Launch Conductr once you have launched Traktor on your computer.
Server:
Without the Conductr server enabled, Conductr will not run.
If you had chosen to not have the Conductr server open up automatically in your computer desktop every time you turn on your computer, please turn the Conductr Server on.
After launching Conductr, the “SELECT A SERVER” screen will appear first.
Select the server you want to use.*
*NOTE: Usually, only the computer connected to the AdHoc network will appear. Other computers can appear eventually if more users are connected to the same network and running the Conductr server.
Other devices can appear too if you are working on a regular Wi-Fi network.
Software selection
After selecting your server, choose the software you want to control (Ableton Live or Traktor), or go the Conductr Store to purchase modules to further enhance your experience with Conductr.
The Playground
The first time you enter Traktor, you will go into the Playground. It will appear with 4 view modes/empty slots by default.
You can change the view modes whenever you want, even while playing live.
The Playground is ergonomic: it adapts to your needs. The Playground interface set-up can be changed at any time to 4 different view modes of your slots:
4 views mode
3 views mode
2 views mode
Full Screen view mode
Each slot has its corresponding side menu.
Full Screen view mode
View Mode Half Screen
When getting into a slot’s Playground for the first time, tap on the Playground icon
to fill any empty slot with a System Module (Traktor deck A/B/C/D).*
*NOTE: Consider using the left slots in the playground for the Traktor decks on the left and the slots on the right for the Traktor decks on the right.
Repeat the same steps to set up the rest of your Traktor decks accordingly in your playground.
The Traktor module
The Traktor Module features 3 different view modes: Player, Mixer and FX.
Player view mode:
Mixer view mode:
Fx view mode:
When you load a Traktor module on the Playground, it will appear on Player view mode by default. You can switch between view modes within a module (even while playing) using the module’s side menu controls:
Mixer
Fx Unit
You can even load the same module on 3 different slots in the Playground, each one with a different view mode, and get on screen access to all 3 view modes simultaneously.
Player view
SEARCH function
The SEARCH function allows you to browse your Traktor library (located in your computer) and select the track you want to play.
Scroll up or down your track library.
Tap on LOAD once you’ve selected the track you want to play.
Tap on PLAY to start and stop playback.
BEND function
The BEND function temporarily slows down or speeds up the playback.
Tap on BEND
Hold, slide to the left and let go of the wave to slow up the track to match with the other track/s.
Hold, slide to the right and let go of the wave to bring the track forward to match with the other track/s.
The bar under the track timeline is there to support you with your blending of tracks, bringing both tracks to play in unison. The bar helps you to visualise how far behind or ahead the deck you are viewing is from the other track playing. When adjusting with the BLEND just slide the wave in the direction that the bar is moving to bring the track to the right place.
JOG function
When the track is playing you can emulate a record deck by holding the track and bringing the track backwards or forwards. Like on a turntable, you can have the motor of the deck turning so that when you let go of the record the deck will keep pulling on the record.
Tap on JOG
The lock stops the deck from continuing, leaving you at your chosen time of a track and where you can scratch in place. As on a turntable, if your deck is stopped and you scratch (push forward or backwards) a track, it will stop playing as soon as you release your touch.
MASTER & SYNC functions
The SYNC function synchronizes the current track to the MASTER tempo. It provides the fastest and easiest way to match beats.
Choose which deck will be the Master. Tap on MASTER.
The MASTER deck will have the box in full color.
To SYNC the rest of your decks to the MASTER deck, tap on SYNC in each corresponding deck.
FLUX function
The FLUX mode lets you use cue points and loops without losing the phrasing of your tracks. It is a timeline-based technique that lets you immediately jump to the position of the timeline of the track where it would have been if the track had continued forward.*
* NOTE: The longer you loop, the farther ahead the playhead position will move and therefore the farther ahead playback will jump to when you release the Cue/Sample trigger button.
CUE button
Within each track you can ‘bookmark’ any specific second (CUE Point) in order to begin a mix from or start loops from.
On a paused Deck, tapping on the CUE button sets a new Floating Cue Point at the current play position.
When the track is paused and cued up to the Floating Cue Point, tap and hold the CUE button to pre-listen to the Cue placement. Release CUE to return to the Floating Cue Point.
Tapping the CUE button during playback jumps the current play position back to the previously set Floating Cue Point and stops playback (except when using FLUX, see 3.6.5).
HOT CUES
The HOT CUES provide direct access to 8 user-definable Cue/Loop In Points per track.
When the Deck is playing, tapping on a HOT CUE button will jump the play position to the mapped Cue/Loop In Point and continue playing.
When the Deck is paused, the HOT CUE buttons behave in the same manner as the CUE button (see 3.6.6).
To erase a cue, simply hold the DELETE button and press on the CUE number you would like to erase.
LOOP function
Looping is when you decide a short or long section of a track to be continually repeated.
Tap on LOOP
Choose the corresponding number which defines how many bars you want your loop to repeat.
When the section of your desired loop is about to begin, tap the number in order to begin looping your desired place in the track.
When the LOOP is activated the number will light up.
To deactivate the LOOP, tap again on the number you’ve chosen. When the LOOP is deactivated the number will turn off like the rest.
TEMPO function
The TEMPO fader offers the same functionality as a pitch fader on any standard turntable or pitchable CD player.
Adjust TEMPO without SYNC
Decrease or increase the tempo of the track playing by moving the slider left or right. *
Move the TEMPO fader left to slow down the tempo of the track.
Move the TEMPO fader right to speed up the tempo of the track.
Or adjust by tapping on the ( + , – ) to get an accurate %.
*NOTE: You may want to use the BEND funktion to keep the tracks playing in unison.
Adjust TEMPO WITH SYNC
Decrease or increase the overall tempo of your session by moving the TEMPO slider left or right on the MASTER track using the SYNC button to impose the tempo to the rest of the tracks playing.
Choose one deck as your MASTER deck. Select the rest of the decks as slaves to the MASTER by selecting the SYNC button on each one of them.
Move the TEMPO fader on the MASTER Deck left to slow down the overall tempo.
Move the TEMPO fader on the MASTER deck right to speed up the overall tempo.
PROGRESS BAR
Watch the progression of your track from beginning to end.
Double tap anywhere on the bar to reproduce any part of the song.
Mixer view
To access the Traktor Module’s MIXER view, tap on the Mixer Icon on the module’s side menu:
This is the MIXER view:
EQUALIZER

Slide faders up to increase the percentage/value up or down to decrease the percentage/value of any of the three parameters (LO / MID / HI).*
Double tap the center line of each parameter to reach the 0% value without having to slide to zero with your fingers in order to reach the track’s original level of that parameter faster.
Tap KILL to mute any or all three parameters.
*NOTE: On the top left corner of each parameter there is a percentage number to assist you with the level of added or subtracted equalization.
VOLUME
The VOLUME fader brings up or down the loudness level of your track. Slide the fader up or down to affect the level of VOLUME per track.
When you fade or tap to the very top level of the VOLUME the track will be the loudest.*
When you fade or tap to the very bottom level of the VOLUME the track will be muted.
*NOTE: The VOLUME can only be as loud as your GAIN level. Refer to the GAIN section for more information.

Apply a quick low-pass or high-pass filter to the track by moving the FILTER fader downwards or upwards, respectively.
Enable the FILTER by tapping on Low-pass
or Hi-pass
Disable by tapping again.
Low-pass filter your track by tapping and moving the FILTER fader upwards from -100% (full effect) to 0% (no effect).
Hi-pass filter your track by tapping and moving the FILTER fader upwards from 0% (no effect) to 100% (full effect).
MIXER SHIFT mode
The MIXER SHIFT Mode gives you access to additional control parameters.Tap SHIFT to enter.
This is your MIXER SHIFT mode.
MONITOR
Adjust the volume level for your headphones by sliding or tapping the MONITOR fader. Pre-listen to another track over the internal TRAKTOR mixer.
Tap or slide the MONITOR fader up or down to bring the level of volume up or down.
KEY
Traktor analyses your track and detects the KEY that the music is in. With KEY you can control the pitch of a playing track without affecting its tempo. KEY can be used for harmonic mixing.
KEY control has to be activated or deactivated by pressing the LOCK button.
In the center position, the track is played at the original
pitch.
Sliding the fader up or down adjusts the pitch up or down.
GAIN
Each track has a perceived loudness based on its musical properties. The GAIN value established during the analysis process, provides an estimate for the optimal setting of your track.
Enable the Auto-GAIN function in Traktor to give control of the GAIN levels for all of your tracks to the software.
Disable the Auto-GAIN function in your Traktor to keep control of the GAIN levels for all of your tracks.
FX view
This is the Traktor Module view where you can control the FX you apply to the track playing on your deck.*
Tap on FX UNIT to open the drop-down menu and choose the FX UNIT of your choice. You can load up to 4 FX UNITS per track.
To load an fx in any FX UNIT, go to the drop down menu and choose the effect of your choice. Once you tap on the effect, it will be loaded with all of its parameters onto your FX UNIT.
To enable an FX UNIT choose what deck(s) you want the effect to affect (A / B / C / D) and tap on ON.
To disable an FX UNIT go to the drop down menu and tap on NO EFFECT.
How to create FX PRESETS
You may save PRESETS for your FX UNITS so that you can use the effect of your taste just how you like at any given moment. A PRESET keeps the effects and their parameter’s values as they are when you save it.
Tap the PRESETS button.
Once you’ve an effect parameters the way you want to keep them, tap NEW to create a preset.
A pop up window will pop up. Name your PRESET and tap SAVE.
Your PRESET will now be listed on the PRESET menu.
* NOTE: You can save “Single” PRESETS or “Group” PRESETS.
To use the PRESET, enter the PRESETS menu and choose your PRESET in order to load it onto your FX UNIT.
To delete a PRESET tap on EDIT.
Select the PRESET you want to delete.
Tap on DELETE.
How to create and use grouped Fx units.
You must create your FX groups in your desktop Traktor software and NOT in your iPad.
By default, there are two different FX Units in Traktor, which can be assigned to any deck.
Group mode allows up to three different FX to be used simultaneously in a single FX Unit. You see three different FX slots stacked on top of each other in the
corresponding FX Unit (Traktor).
Choose your FX
Click on the downwards-pointing arrow to open the drop-down menu in Traktor and choose the Fx you want from the list. Repeat with the rest of the slots. Appoint which deck/s will be affected by the FX.
FX Control in Conductr
- In order to control your FX in Conductr you must make sure to turn on the FX units. If you like, you may change the number of effects being used by simply turning them on or Off.
- You may apply the exact percentage of the “Total” effect that you want to add by sliding the Dry/Wet fader up to increase the amount of effect or down to decrease the amount of effect.
